Kayla Burkhiser Reynolds grew up on a farm outside of Farragut, Iowa. She attended Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa where she earned her undergraduate degree in 2008. After college, Kayla worked for a local nonprofit for a few years, and then went on to serve two years in the United States Peace Corps. As a Peace Corps volunteer, she collaborated with community groups in rural villages in the Dominican Republic to improve water quality, reduce deforestation, and to better the respiratory health of the many women and children who continue to cook over open fires inside their homes.

Kayla returned to Des Moines in 2013, where she attended Drake University Law School. While at Drake, Kayla was a member of the Drake Law Review, serving on the Editorial Board as a Note Editor. She also participated in the Drake Law Democrats and Drake Law Women student associations. She developed her practical skills while representing low income clients as a student attorney with the Drake Legal Clinic, and had the opportunity to work as an extern in the Iowa Supreme Court. Kayla graduated from Drake Law with High Honors in 2016, and is excited to join Roxanne Conlin and Associates as our newest Staff Attorney.
